End NPC: Defendant Marssen Quest text: Defendant Marssen: Listen, it's true I make weapons. I'm a weaponsmith! Just like my father, and his father before him. But I don't sell them to known murderers and pirates! Defendant Marssen: I sold a remodeled cannon, but it was to an Austeran city guardsman! Not the pirate Morpheus! I'd never have dealings with his lot! Defendant Marssen: I got a letter complaining about having trouble with the cannon; the writer wanted to meet outside the city, but didn't give a name. Before I could refuse, I was arrested. Defendant Marssen: Jura knew his way around a blade, so he offered to spy on the meeting place and try to find out who'd sent the letter. Whoever was at that meeting must've killed him! Defendant Marssen: Even if I'm put to the death for this, I don't want to go to my grave knowing I caused my friend to die, as well. Can you see what's going on? And avenge Jura's death if possible? Defendant Marssen: If you can find the Suspicious Guard or the cannon I sold him, there must be some kind of evidence there. Defendant Marssen: You found the engraving? Then I can't hide the truth. My father taught me never to carve a name on a weapon; it's a jinx. I sold Morpheus that cannon because I'd carved his name in it. I knew it would malfunction, and wanted to kill him. |
