Today is my twelfth birthday. And tonight, my family is throwing a grand party. I'm the current Marian of the Triestes, their hope for the throne, so it's going to be even more overblown than a normal ball. I already see nobles and merchants with carriages overflowing with gifts lining up outside. They're all so merry and excited. But I'm not. With this birthday, I now only have three years before the Queening Trials. Just thinking of them makes my stomach curdle.
