His name was Jack. A humble sailor, wearing a cheap vest of rough leather. But his smile shone brighter than the Heart of the Sun.The setting sun bathed us in a rose-hued glow. I took a step toward him as if pulled by a string. My heart pounded, and my knees trembled. He caught my arm. Sparks flew at his touch. My life flashed before my eyes--but it wasn't my life. It was a life that could be. An alternate future. A humble cottage, children, happiness... and Jack feeding me all the honey I could eat. Back on the ship, I brazenly lifted myself and kissed him full on the lips.
