Corliss: I know I'm not trustworthy yet. But the Windwhip came to our home. It seems like the Firran are having trouble, and I want to help out. Mitzi: Nonsense! It's not that simple. Didn't we already have this discussion? You cannot simply desire to be able to hear the sounds and utter the melodies! Corliss: Then tell me how! Our family is the only family who have ever even heard the sounds of the bards. Shouldn't I of all people be able to do it? Mitzi: Then prove your will. I shall determine if you are ready or not. You can't simply become one out of your desire to help others. You need a bigger reason than that. Mitzi: You must find a reason within you for becoming a bard if you want to be ready to truly get in tune with the sounds and melodies. Corliss: Is there a need for such a grand motive? Mitzi: Right. Showing you what the reality is might be a better idea. Here's my deal. If you fulfill all my conditions, I will show you about the melody that is essential to becoming a bard, but if you fail, you will never become one. Corliss: Great! I will make it! Mitzi: Sounds good. Then first of all, bring someone who will become your companion in your journey. Corliss: ... What do you mean? Mitzi: I mean what I said. Someone who will share your hardships, perhaps even overcome them. It could be a friend, lover, family, anyone. It'll be the end if either you or that companion of yours gives up midway.
