Quest stages:
Purchase a Chick from a Livestock Merchant and place it on the public farm. Feeding it Ground Grain will speed its growth. Once it's grown, slaughter it to collect Chicken Meat.
Note: Slaughtering an animal before it's fully grown produces little to no meat. One Chicken Meat is not enough to complete this quest.

Collect Chicken Meat (2)

Purchase a Chick from a Livestock Merchant and place it on the public farm. Feeding it Barley will speed its growth. Once it's grown, slaughter it to collect Chicken Meat.
Note: Slaughtering an animal before it's fully grown produces little to no meat. One Chicken Meat is not enough to complete this quest.Return to the Blue Salt Brotherhood Merchant Recruiter when finished.

Quest text:
Merchant Recruiter: There's more to farming than just growing plants, you know. Tending livestock is just as important.
Merchant Recruiter: To learn about the more advanced ranching, you'll need to talk to Farmer Makella. But I can teach you the basics for now.
Merchant Recruiter: Once you've got the Chick, place it in the Public Farm. You can feed it Ground Grain to help it grow, or just let it grow up naturally.
Merchant Recruiter: Just be sure to come back within three days, or someone might steal it!
Merchant Recruiter: Once the Chicken is fully grown, slaughter it to collect Chicken Meat.
Merchant Recruiter: Once you give me the Chicken Meat, I'll know you've learned the basics of farming and ranching. I'll even reward you with a Scarecrow Garden, so you can have your own place to grow crops and raise livestock.
Merchant Recruiter: To start off, you'll need to purchase a baby Chick from a Livestock Merchant.
Merchant Recruiter: Either way, it will take some time for your Chicken to mature. Feel free to leave it here while you handle your other concerns.Step 1: Purchase a Chick

Place the animal just like you would a plant. Animals are protected for 3 days when raised on a Public Farm.Step 3: Feeding
Chicks can grow with or without Ground Grain, but feeding them Ground Grain will speed their growth. When a Chick is fully grown, it will become a Chicken.Step 4: Butchering
If butchered immaturely, a Chick produces little or no Chicken Meat. Only a fully grown Chicken will always produce meat.If you feed Ground Grain to an adult Chicken, it will thrive. Thriving Chickens produce more Chicken Meat when butchered.
